Main Beach Surfing

By far the most popular and accessible beach from the town, Main Beach is a perfect break for beginners.  Many of the surf schools run their classes here and the beach is safe and patrolled year round by the local surf lifesavers whose clubhouse sits in front of the beach.  This beach is also popular with swimmers and families though, so be careful. In bigger swell, the more experienced surfers might find some fun rides and even barrels.  If there’s a strong north wind blowing though, don’t bother – the waves will be a mess. Showers line the front beaches and there are toilets located at the Surf Club.
