Tallow Beach Surfing
Tucked beneath the headland south of the Byron Bay Lighthouse, Tallow Beach is a popular surfing spot that is frequented by local shortboarders. It is also the only good left in the area, and the only spot that is protected in the north wind which means it can get busy at these times. It’s generally a fast break, suited to more experienced surfers. Be aware that this beach is unpatrolled and often has strong rips dragging out to sea. The parking facilities are both limited and charged here, so make sure that you have spare change.
